The in-class TESL program cost $925, but this home study TESL course, which presents the same important information covered in the classroom, is only $625. You will also receive the same internationally recognized TESL Certificate at the completion of the program as those who attended regular classes. The main difference is that you will communicate with your teacher using e-mail.
In addition, you can complete the online TESL program in the comfort of your home. Plus you will not need to pay for transportation to and from the class or stay in a nearby hotel. So, with the online TESL course you can save money.

The TESL Certificate Course

The TESL program is a practical distance learning program that allows you to develop the skills and techniques needed in a real classroom setting. The course covers the theoretical issues involved in teaching and reviews the various methods used in Teaching English as a second or foreign language. Our TESL program is intended for both native and non-native speakers.

3 Language teaching and methods, levels, 4 language skills
4 English grammar
5 Teaching aids, textbooks, role of teacher, class management
6 Lesson planning for beginner and intermediate levels
7 Grammatical error analysis and correction
8 Lesson planning for advanced levels
9 Phonetics and its application in TESL

Structure
Course content is based on 9 subject areas. Each subject area consists of reading the unit material, completing an assignment and a multiple choice test.

1 Review of subject area
2 Samples from textbooks
3 9 assignments (one per unit) to be completed and sent to tutor for correction
4 9 assessment tests in multiple choice format
5 Information on employment opportunities with contact address

Assessment

Students are assessed on a continuous basis by their tutor as they complete assignments and tests. To successfully complete the course and be awarded a TESL Certificate all 9 assignments must receive a minimum score of 70%. Students who fail to pass an assignment may re-submit assignments.

Tutors

All tutors are qualified, experienced teachers who have taught abroad and have advanced training in TESL. Course material is continually updated to reflect changing trends in teaching English.

Enrolment and Course Duration
Enrolment is on a continuous basis and completion times are not pre-determined. Course is self-paced, but students typically take between 8 to 26 weeks to complete the course.

Certification
Students who successfully complete the program will receive a TESL Certificate.

A student's aggregate score must be at least 70%. Students who fail an assignment will be allowed to re-submit it.

Practicum
Students taking the online TESL program are asked to complete a 25 hour teaching practicum. Teaching English takes place in many different types of institutions in all towns and cities. You can look for opportunities to perform your practicum at such places as language schools, companies, immigration centers, churches, volunteer organizations, private tutoring and mainstream education at all levels. Those with teaching experience are exempt, but it is a good idea to put into practice the new skills you have acquired.
